Maurice Lacroix introduces solar-powered chronograph technology to its sporty Pontos collection for the first time, launching both a three-hand watch and a chronograph. The Pontos S Solar watch is powered by the Ronda 215 solar-powered quartz movement, while the chronograph uses the Ronda 2040.D movement. Both movements are Swiss-made and convert solar energy into electricity, eliminating the need for frequent battery changes. A full charge provides up to eight months of power reserve for the three-hand model and up to five months for the chronograph. According to the brand, the batteries have a lifespan exceeding ten years before needing replacement.
The translucent dial features a smoky gradient effect with approximately 20% to 30% light transmittance, ensuring ample light absorption by the solar panel beneath. To guarantee legibility in any lighting conditions, the prominent hour markers and hands are coated with Superluminova.
